Good horchata and flan (best way to judge a Mexican place). Was happy with everything.

Authentic? Yes. ((ish)) Quick? Yes. Friendly? Yes. Huge portions? Yes. Tasty? Meh. It takes quite a bit to impress me when it comes to Mexican food. Call me picky, call me high maintenance, call me whatever you want. Mexican food to me should not be doused in cheese and sour cream and swimming in a vat of oil. Nor should it even remotely resemble something purchased from Taco Bell. Although El Azteca was none of those things, it was just straight-up mediocre. My socks were knocked off, but the food definitely wasn't anything close to what the local TB serves up ((thank goodness)). I opted for the 3 taco chicken dinner with rice and beans. I found the shredded chicken to be some of the most tender, moist, and delicious chicken I've encountered in a taco. That ish was muy bueno. However, my rice and beans were overcooked and super dry. Boo...rice and beans are my favorite part of a Mexican dinner. Service was fast and friendly. Our waiter was attentive and didn't seem to be annoyed by my constant requests for a water refill. And with my plethora of requests for dish add-ins and other ingredients on the side, my dish came out exactly how I had asked it to be prepared. Overall, El Azteca is definitely not the best Mexican food I've had, but the portions and prices are right, the service is good, and they make some pretty darn good chicken tacos.

Decent place for lunch. Service was quick, prices were reasonable and food was hot and tasty. The salsa was even a bit spicy, which is good! Very casual and the portions for lunch are not too large and wasteful.

I went here before and had tacos on taco tuesday, and then I would have given this place likely about 2 stars as the food and service seemed underwhelming. A few days ago a friend suggested I go back, so I tried the steak enchiladas which were without a doubt some of the best enchiladas I have ever had. The refills were plenty and the service good, I am glad to know there is a good alternative to El Sarape (which was very busy).

I enjoyed a quick, tasty dinner here on a visit to Green Bay. The waiter helped me select a dish that was vegetarian friendly. The chips and salsa were very fresh. I would definitely go back again.

I live close to this place so I go here a lot. The food is what I would call (fast mexican food). I know that when I go here it will be quickly delivered to me and will be tasty. Is it a fancy, all natural and a fresh mexican food place? No. I would recommend you go here if you want a quick taco on the go!

Having come from San Diego, I had pretty high expectations...El Azteca did more than impress me! The food is always at your table in little time. Order pickup, and they will have your order in 10 minutes!! Food is always great here. Macho burrito is the way to go. La sopapilla (think I spelled that wrong) is delicious.

We hadn't eaten here for five years but used to love it, tonight was very disappointing. The food came quickly but the service was very bad. After bringing the food she never checked on us we had empty chips empty salsa empty water we ran out of tortilla shells and we had empty margaritas we had to get up and go and ask for these things. There were only three other tables in the restaurant and at least five staff ignoring us. What was the most disappointing was the food. There was a lack of seasoning and flavor throughout. The supposed 'steak' in the tacos and burritos looked like boiled ground beef. The ground beef crispy taco was on a store bought shell with almost no cheese. The soft taco shells completely fell apart and could not be picked up to eat.

The food would warrant four stars but the service barely warrants two. I wish I could say who our server was but they just put an inital on the written check. Our server, who I will refer to by her initial of J, couldn't have been less enthused about providing us a decent experience. It was almost as if she was pissed off at us from the get go and my sister and I were both mystified. I ordered the combination plate #2, a taco and two enchiladas. All were good, especially the enchiladas. They have GREAT guacamole, too. After our food was delivered, we never saw our waitress again. Well, I mean, we SAW her but she never gave us a second glance, not even to check and be sure our meals were as expected and there were no problems - generally the LEAST one might expect from a server anywhere... So I spent most of my meal without anything to drink as I had finished my iced tea AND my water and wasn't going to wait while my food got cold. When she finally DID glance over (I was nearly finished with my food), she asked (from across the room) "more iced tea?" to which I responded, "yes and water too please?" She came back and set the glass of tea down loudly and refilled my water glass with such force that my sister and I both thought I was in for a bath. I said "thank you" and "J" walked away without a word. Do managers realize how something like this can ruin a nice meal? Why should any diner feel like their server is not just unhappy, but pissed off?!? A short while later I was done eating and she came over and asked, "are you done?" and grabbed my plate from the table with such vehemence my sister thought she was going to heave it over her shoulder! At this point we had to laugh but were really taken aback. At no point did she even ask how our food was or anything either. We had thought we might order dessert (they have fantastic sopapillas) but she never offered and just came back with our check, again not uttering a word or even making eye contact. Really unsettling. I hate to admit that we did not even leave a tip...the food was good and that's what we paid for but a tip is a way to show appreciation for service and neither of us appreciated being treated like we were scum of the earth. We were there July 31 around 7-7:30 if anybody of consequence (read: manager or owner) should happen to read this ...and though the food was good, we certainly won't be back anytime soon, if at all.

One of my go to places to eat when in town training at NWTC. Great lunch specials. Never had a bad meal.

Not knock-your-socks-off-good, but definitely worth the trip. Nothing is too spicy, but everything I've had has been pretty cheap and delicious.

Each time I come to Green Bay I stop and eat at this location. The food, staff, and atmosphere is good. I don't have any complaints. I tried the Carne Asada de tampiquena and it was excellent, just how I expect and wanted it to be cooked. My wife had a combination plate and wasn't happy with the verde sauce, but overall was very good. Margarita was good and the coke product from Mexico was good as well. I will come back again and again!

As a Texan, I'm a little suspicious (in a horrible, snobby, "I-hate-myself-for-feeling-this" way) when my boyfriend's Green Bay family tells me this is awesome Mexican food that I have to try. I will never doubt their taste again. Seriously delicious food -- everyone's looked fabulous, and the prices were awesome for the portion size and quality of food. Excellent vegetarian or meat-loving options. I recommend anything with mole, or the burritos; however, everyone loved their meal. Will definitely be back when I'm in the Green Bay area.

Another update to state that service has improved greatly, and we have been going back here regularly. Keep up the good work, guys!

Authentic mexican food at it's best. We love this place. Excellent margaritas and sangria, wonderful food, and prompt service. I don't think I have ever waited more than 10 minutes for my meal there. There are plenty of people working in the kitchen to get your food out promptly. They have the best Mexican food around.

The food was delicious, the staff was polite, the service was fast yet efficient, and the prices were low. Couldn't have had a better first experience. My bf and I had 2 cokes, 2 dinner plates, and desert for $24.34... WOW!

My Husband and I visited on Friday evening and were very disappointed with the food and service. The food was marginal at best. We had heard so many good reviews that we were surprised by what we got. In addition the waitress gave the impression she was put out having to wait on us. We left a tip but really should not have

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
